I like this software from the day started my trading career. It is very light weight, easy to use and most important gives accurate signals with proper settings. Indian traders can use this for EOD charting in NSE, BSE cash markets, MCX and NSE currency.
For intraday charting, professional traders can use signals data source and full version of this software for successful trading. You can download this amazing application from its official website. Then go to options and click on webupdate.
It will update script file useful for data fetching. After compilation of webupdate, go to Options then Data sources/proxy settings then Hist. backfill and choose yahoo backfill in dropdown options. And that’s it. Now before start to get basic idea for software must read help topics section which is at top right in the menu. Create new portfolio as names “NSE” for NSE stocks and “BSE” for bse stocks. On portfolio windows, click on insert button on keyboard and enter company name with .bo or .ns extension. E.g. for ITC it will be ITC.NS or ITC.BO. .NS means stock with NSE eod data while .BO means stock with BSE data. If data is not available on yahoo finance for certain symbol then might see blank chart. Now for commodity futures, create portfolio watch named as “MCX” and for currency named as “currency “ For MCX data, download you have first download historical data from MCXINDIA site in the form of bhavcopy.
Use this link for that: http://www.mcxindia.com/SitePages/BhavCopy.aspx
Choose to commodity wise and download last 6 month data. E.g. copper Then in portfolio watch window, use insert button to add MCX.COPPER symbol. Now right click on MCX.COPPER symbol and select historical chart option. A black chart will open as there is no data for mcx copper in the software. Now right click on chart and select “historical data for mcx.Copper”. Now you have to fill up mcx data using add new button on that window. Copper historical data, date by date with details: date, then volume, then open, high, low and close. Using this method you can create any commodity futures continues eod chart. From bhavcopy use current active month data for better price and volume analysis. For example, for Nov month use Nov expiry contract data. Next or far month’s data will be less liquid and thinly traded and because of that chart will not form as good as previous one. See following screenshots
For NSE or MCXSX currency future follow same procedure. Create portfolio watch named as “currency”. Add symbol NSE.USDINR for dollar rupee future. Download NSE currency bhavcopy from this link: http://www.nseindia.com/products/content/derivatives/currency/historical_daywise_cd.htm and for MCX-SX currency bhavcopy visit this link : http://www.msei.in/markets/currency/historical-data/tradehistory.aspx And follow same step as given above for copper chart.
QuoteTracker is the best free charting software available and with some time experience with it, I am sure you will love it.
